There's a new fishing retreat opened next to the beach at Mandorah.

It's called the Lure Inn and its run by Top End fishing legends Dean and Lorraine Gardner, who between them have a fishing resume as long as your arm.

They formerly owned Barra Base on Bathurst Island, invented the reel cooler cover, and were instrumental in developing centre-cab boats, among other things. Dean was the inaugural champion of the fly-fishing billfish competition in Broome

The Lure Inn is a bed and breakfast for the fisho or family who appreciate style.

The "lodge" has two bedrooms with twin beds, a bedroom with two single beds, two shower area (inside and outside), laundry, and a large living room.

There is a private decking area with spa and barbecue.

The inn has everything you could need - TV, coffee maker etc etc

And it's all 50m from the water, a nice cove with a headland each end where numerous stud barra have been landed.

In fact the mullet school almost directly below the inn, and I watched Dean catch a day's worth with one cast of the net.

You don't even need to take your car over - you can catch the ferry and get a bus to the lodge. Tackle is provided at the lodge too, and even two pushbikes!
