Talk about the gear you can't afford and knots you can't tie.

Structure scan hds 7 touch help!

Post by blowski »

Hi guys I've just installed a hds 7 touch in the boat with structure scan, set everything up and it's running fine but the structure scan image isn't anything flash it's not really outlining the trees or snags, it's picking them up but they are showing more like a blur or a clump of cr.p when I know they are dead snags below the boat and the bottom is not really showing anything beyond the water colum .. I think it's a transducer mounting problem... Can anyone help me with how they have there's mounted, I have the lss2 transducer rear mounted it's about an inch above the bottom of the hull, could I have it at the wrong angle or something?

Set your transducer so the bottom of it is 5mm below the bottom of the hull and tilt the end down slightly

Agree with seano....mine is actually 1cm below hull (not planning on hitting anything) and tilted ever so slightly forward result has been an excellent image :fishy:

sounds like i need to drop it under the boat a tad more- just confriming tilt the end down so its looking under the boat a little i guess would be the best way of discribing it?
Thanks again you guys are so helpful- champions hope this helps!

Yeah, I need to adjust mine as well. I mounted it above the hull line, as I read that was the go to protect it, but I'm not at all happy with the results.

The setup on my Humminbird was similar. Make sure it has clean water over the face and don't be afraid to point the back end down more.

The new Lowrance update significantly clears the picture up I'm told, I'll find out next week
