Commercial crabbing resumes in Shoal Bay

Global warming and overfishing. And any good news we can dig up.

Commercial crabbing resumes in Shoal Bay

Post by Matt Flynn »

It appears that after a hiatus from 2014, commercial crabbing has resumed crabbing in Darwin's Shoal Bay.

There is a belief among some fishos that the whole bay is closed to pro crabbing, but Shoal Bay has never been fully closed to pro crabbing, only some of the creeks are off limits.

There has been a push to have the whole bay closed to commercial crabbing, which has not yet happened.

Given that Shoal Bay is hugely popular for recreational crabbing, and forms such an important part of the Darwin fishing and outdoors lifestyle, there is a strong argument to have it closed.

I don't even carry pots and am not happy about this. If your doing it for money, spend some and travel away from the rec areas around Darwin.
how many is enough lures, rods and reels. Is there a magic number, considering you usually only catch 1 fish on a single lure on the one rod and reel your casting with.

Well this is just not good enough, with the what has been going on in Territory politics over the last 2 weeks the last thing Labour need is angry voters.....so....strike while the iron is hot....please write to Nicole Manison and demand Shoal Bay be off limits to commercial crabbers.
No matter where you go, there you are!

Apart from telling the Govt, you need to tell their puppet AFANT.

They'd surely have about $450 K sitting in their coffers ready to keep the management in the style to which they've become accustomed for the next 4 years or so if/when their annual support is cut off.
