Hit up the Mary flicking a old faithful lure at a few snags along the way for a couple of little barra this afternoon. ... landed around about 30 barra from 40 -70cms ....all solid healthy fish that pulled hard ... too hard in a few cases .... so I ended up using the baitcaster with 50lb after getting dusted several times on 30lb on the spin gear . :banghead:

I had stopped at coroboree for the paper enroute ..but no such luck ''we don't have it on the weekends'' i was informed , but picked up a free copy of :

the 23 rd issue of the rural weekly local paper dated : 15th june hope it will cut it for this competition ??

Best I could get on the bank for a pic today was this little tacker.

Note for any sooks claiming this is a ''necked fish '' : it is bleeding in the pics as the tail treble of the lure was in its gills... like 2 of the smaller 65cm ones hooked earlier on this trip too ( bib of the lure visible in the pic ). I threw this fish back in and it swam off no worries in case u were wondering. :D

Nice one flickin4em. They’re a pretty hardy fish and that little butt of blood wouldn’t have too much of an impact. Crazy how much more damage a bloated gut does over a ripped/pinned gill.

Headed out for a sneaky after work harbour session hoping for a Tuna.
200 casts, 6 hook-ups, 1 85cm to the fork Queenfish landed.
Fun couple of hours.

Upgrade from down at Howard River. :D

Mozzies and midgies were biting far better than the barra though. With myself only raising 2 hits for the trip and then pulling the hooks on the first one and of course it was way bigger than this little tiddler. Just a bit better than a mate going home with donut. Cant complain really, we got a feed at least .

Oh well ya get that....... unfortunately fishing can't be an epic trip every time hey. :banghead:

Was freezing cold on the way back out. Even ran the heater

I had a great weekend at the Peron Islands including an amazing session on queenies. We would have boated over 30 all in the 80cm range and ended up leaving them biting as our arms were stuffed. The largest went 88cm and I had to use a NT fisheries sticker as the brag mat blew out of the boat and didn't float the day before whilst we were measuring Jewies.

I'll get the results up shortly for this round, I had a couple of weeks in Brisbane with family and have been somewhat sidetracked.
