FFF FotoFish 2020 - April Thread ... post 'em up here.

Given that there are some restrictions on fishing, and may be more during April, this monthly thread can include current pix as per usual, plus nostalgia pix - eg blasts from the past.

Kicks off April 1.

A bit of a break for the young bloke from home schooling and a bit of needed social distancing from his mother & sister.

Took the daughter for a run this morning and she landed a nice Jewie.

Darted up to Cape Hotham yesterday whilst the wind was down. Very quite though and I was just about to give up after 3 hours of sharks and little red fish when the Goldies turned up. I got these 3 (50 - 52cm) in under 5 mins and then moved on.

Freshwater finniss lap was a dud with only 150mm of water in the dip preceeeding the ramp expectations were similarly low. Just a few feeder creeks flowing now.

Only landed 2 rats and a sooty for the day. Bit sad really :| but better than being stuck at home.

Some great pix to start the month, especially the action shots of the jewie getting caned

Nostalgia shot here scanned off a slide, a drummer hooking into a drummer near Steep Point, Shark Bay.

That dark patch off the beach is a school of silver drummer, the locals were calling them buffalo bream.

Another nostalgia shot from Steep Point - standard cleaning setup for the big macks caught there.

Most blokes fished with balloon rigs, pilchard bait skipping around under the balloon.

I did a 3 day trip out from Shady last week, the run off seems to be finished in the coastal creeks. I did 270kms in the boat for a couple of rats, a feed of goldies & a small jewie.

Culvert lap report : most spots are already back to dry season height despite the recent rain. In a lot of spots the bait is tiny still and no fish around.

Good spot, good lure and supposedly good days but still no upgrades the most excitement of the day was when I hooked myself to the carpet on the bomber.

Not that exciting honestly ..... I only got 1 rat and some video of 1 of the only other epic 2 captures from 10 boats in the area...

he got the 2nd powertail :banghead:

Bulk schools of Popeye mullet out on an undisclosed location in chambers bay. Good spot, not too far from the Wildman river mouth either. As a side note it was pretty much mint perfect conditions and I was running the good lures that have a proven reputation for nailing good Barra from that area. But......, for an entire I day saw 0 edible fish landed between all the other boats lapping the ultimate (supposedly hot) zone of good marks all day when I was there. I only saw 2 boofs for a few hours of passing by the school of bait which would've only been a couple of minature 60 - 70cm rats chasing them anyway.... weird AF. especially when heaps of boats got their limit of 80s and 90 plus stonker threadies only a few days earlier in the same run.

That's why they call it fishing, not catching I suppose.

That's a lot of popeyes!

Another old slide shot here - at the tip of Cape York Peninsula.
