Thanks to everyone who contributed to this. Anyone caught them in the Bynoe Harbour creeks?

I have a mate who goes after them somewhere in the vicinity of the iron bridge. Not 100% sure of exact location but it is in that area. He has an awesome pickled redclaw recipe. Great with :drinking5:

Old post but , Elsey Creek ,Seen them in Coroboree (not sure you are allowed to use pots in there) .Quite a few years ago a mate and I released a few dozen in the dam at Francis Creek mine . Never been back to see if the have bred up.Probably cant get access to the dam now though.
I'm not young enough to know every thing .

Met a retired fella here in Rocky about 2 years ago.

He used to have the hatchery on the road between Emerald and the Fairbairn Dam. He also grew redclaw.

From the late 70s his biggest selling product was grey nomad redclaw kits.

According to him, there needed to be the right mix of male/female for successful release into dams and waterways.

He retired in about 2008 so he supplied the grey nomad brigade with their breeding "kits' of about 30 redclaw per kit for about 30 years.

They were extremely popular with the nomads whose desire was to be able to catch redclaw in any waterway no matter where they went.

I reckon they've been pretty successful at the spread.

Will confirm redclaw in Roper River.
Regards
Ronje

Scotts was great until it got written up in a magazine and the next year you couldn't move there. The
re were tourists with gloves and tongs ripping them out left ,right and center .You think they would listen when telling them there was a big croc around the corner. Let's hope this write up doesn't wreck the rest of the places although there is a bag limit now
The past is history, the future is mystery, the moment is a gift and that's why it's called the present
