Very close call yesterday - croc attack

Post by nomad »

There was a near miss at the culvert near the Windows on the wetlands yesterday.
A bloke was collecting bait while his missus was ‘keeping a lookout for crocs’
It jumped out but missed him by around 500mm.

Surely people know by now that big crocs inhabit that area AND that they can stay submerged for hours while they line you up.
Ive seen crocs there for many years and people still risk their lives just for a fish

I suppose that they will remove him and take it to the croc farms.
Meanwhile, another big fella will soon take his place

Please be crocwise people

I often stop there for a flick but never catch anything. I stay way above the culvert though, perfect little hole for the dominant croc!

The croc that hangs out there is a cunning bugger.

He moves thru the culvert and hides out in the grass on the top side for a rest then when he wants a feed he comes back thru to the side where everyone fishes.

Just like Shady Camp it is only a matter of time.
A mans boat is a sign of his strengths and weaknesses???? (and wealth)

Yeah I've thought about having a fish there but the long grass and deep hole just scares the poop out of me. like you say, its just a matter of time until someone gets snapped.
Apparently the female 'look out' went to the Windows to complain about the croc being there. dumbarse!

2nd that he's been there for years I've castneted and fished in there heaps since I was a kid and never had an issue with it. ...

It's signposted warning you about them on the gate, don't fish so close to the edge next time DH ..... get over it. !

Yep, thats the one thats been there for yonks pretty unlikley they'll get it in a trap. But worth a try if baited up with a live jabiru or spoonbill LOL. It p!sses me off that they'll get rid of it only to have another one move back in from the Adeliade possibly bigger and even more sneaky. Just from an idiot who has no idea on how to fish in croc country. Better trap them all at daly Xing and shady camp while they're at it too. .....

Saw it on the upstream side in one of the small billabong pools in the grass on sunday on the way back in from kakadu.

Black one.. 3m + for sure..

Same one as last year I reckon, unlikely that they'll be able to trap it.

No need to trap it. Just wait until it grabs some fool playing in/near the water and then they will have to kill it
