But then you have to drive all the way out and then across to the mouth. I've thought of it in the past, but I dont really fish Leaders.
Not to mention you shouldn't bl..dy have to.
It's not too much to ask to go for a fish, and expect to return to your car and not find it torched. bl..dy mindless act of vandalism, by heartless douchbags. Fancy seeing a baby seat and think gee that would go up pretty quick.

Tristan, has there been any updates on the cct cameras for Elizabeth river ramp. Maybe there could be a conversation to get the mobile cct trailers to do the rounds of the boat ramps on peak days. It's rubbish that you can not use ramps like this one, Chanel island ramp, middle arm etc, with out the very real risk that you may not have much car left when you have had a day on the water.

Agree. shouldnt have to worry about your stuff while you are away BUT you need to take precautions these days.

Dont put any weight on the promises made by politicians. they have said they would do this and that every lead up to an election and then nothing. the only solution is to have a secured compound that has a full time person there. it will cost heaps. 'User pays systems' are usually the best.
we all know that you cant believe anything promised so we have to leave it up to a private contractor.

I saw the cops with gloves on checking it out when i came in on Sunday. Strange that they never got any other vehicles. There was at least 12 cars and trailers all with light bars and the other goodies and nothing was taken as far as i know. This annoys me as I use SWA quite a bit. Is it going to be a write off or not enough damage ? I wouldn't want mine back after that. The low life thieves better not let me catch them.

My thoughts too Bob, I got back as the owner was assessing the damage, there was over 20 cars with trailers in the carpark yet he's was the only one hit. Maybe they were disturbed early in the piece as there was a couple of land based lads at the ramp. I too use SWA a bit and although I have heard about break-ins there, its the first time I've seen it. It worries me when I go there mid week on my own and there is not a soul around as there is no phone reception also.

It's one thing to break in and steal from someone, it is a pain and major inconvenience, but you still have your vehicle and trailer and can retrieve your boat and get home (albeit p@$$%d off). But to then set it alight, that is just down right unnecessary and one of the lowest of acts.
