Re: 2018 Iron Jack NT Barramundi Classic
I’ve been fortunate to fish the Classic a few times. If I had asked my accountant he would’ve advised against it. Haven’t met one yet that can appropriately value experience.
Caught my PB with 15 minutes to go on day 5; priceless.
Highly recommended.

After a great disturbance in the force things are returning to equilibrium. Classic case of a shite stir for the sake of it ,well handed to all.

One day i will find a spare 20 grand so i can buy compains sounder. Then it would be game on. As it stands the comps are all about technology and being able to use it. I would like to take part in a comp where only a basic sounder was allowed and see how we all go.

Do you seriously think his sounder is the reason behind his constant success, I’m sure it plays large part in it but most other boats would have to have sumthing in the same ballpark ? I’d guess his success is down to being a. A bl..dy good fisho and b. Being on the water a lot leading up to the comps , getting a good read on wat fish are up to before the comp . Local knowledge years of itcuddlescooper wrote:One day i will find a spare 20 grand so i can buy compains sounder. Then it would be game on. Ponyplay, he is a very good fisherman no doubt but it is easy to be a good fisherman when you can see every time a fish farts. You still have to know when they are gonna bite, when the water conditions allow you to catch the fish, and find them in the first place from time on the water but all the teams that succeed are running top of the line technology. I know Shane thinks like a fish and has hundreds of theory''s on why they do what they do but the simple fact of life is that he can count how many scales are on the fish with his sonar allowing for this information to be gathered. I drive down a river and see a eddie, water color change, some bait flicking, a fish rolling, pressure wave in the water or a tide change and guess that there is gonna be fish there. He drives up to those signs, looks on the sounder and says....there''s no fish there so i''m not wasting my time and will look some where else.....or fark, there''s 3 metery''s, 5 ninty''s a Powertail and 2 sharks so i''m gonna hammer the frig out of it until they bite. Its even getting to the point that guys are seeing the angle of the fishes head in relation to the current and determining wether the fish are feeding, holding up, resident fish or other. Technology is a massive part of the game. With out fund coupons it is now very hard for the average competitor to even look like competing in these comps especially on pressurised fish.

He said seeing them and hooking them are two different things, others boats can fish the same fish but not get them.
That said a "things of stone and wood" fishing comp isn't a bad idea either
