« Fri May 18, 2018 9:24 pm »   "Wild caught" Barra of course! When crumbed or battered or whatever, most interstate folks can only assume they're eating Barra. Butchers in Darwin have been caught out before selling Jew that was sliced to look like....
« Fri May 18, 2018 8:30 pm »   Call me stubborn but I've never eaten or paid for Barra that wasn't caught by either myself or mates as the taste of a good 'Chromie' is unmistakable and needs no added condiments. A good filleter can slice any size fish just right and restaurants can pass it off as wild caught. As the saying goes, eat where you are! Enjoy the local.
« Fri May 18, 2018 9:46 am »   Labelling of seafood nationally has been a problem and needs to keep improving I think. also educating people - which may come back to self promoting benefits of wild vs farmed. some mates of mine in Tassie reckon they tried barra and it was not that good, but later found out it was farmed - then tried wild and loved it.
« Fri May 18, 2018 12:15 am »   Doubt it, consistent farmed saltwater supply during consecutive lean years is what made this occur in the first place. Smart business is to not give your consistent supply the flick in a glut because they will tell you to go jump in lean times.
« Thu May 17, 2018 7:02 pm »   I'm sure if the rest of Australia stepped up and labelled our barra fillets for consumers to choose a few more wild caught fish would be sold
« Thu May 17, 2018 2:29 pm »   Boo Hoo? - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-05-17/b ... ke/9770022

« Sat May 05, 2018 10:35 pm »   Hi all, just a heads up on the no go zones around the Inpex loading jetties. There is a full maritime restriction zone in place which is being enforced with the assistance of the Darwin water police. All unauthorised marine vessels that venture into the no go zones are tracked by radar and hi resolution cameras. Be warned, it may be time to find another fishing/crabbing spot around that area as the fines are around 5K for a conviction.
« Sat May 05, 2018 9:13 pm »   Lats zones
