Tell us a camping story. Let us guess? You left the cooking oil and bog roll at home ...

So what is Australia's most popular selling car then????

Australia loves hatchbacks, utes, petrol-guzzling V8s and family sedans, but there can only be one best-selling car in Australia. The best-selling car in the country right now is…

It’s the Toyota Corolla! In the calendar year to 31 July 2013 (the year so far), the Toyota reportedly sold 24,915 Corollas.

According to Between the Axles, the number two spot at 23,693 was the Toyota Hilux. Then #3 in July and 23,541 for the Mazda3.

Cant drive a Corolla or Mazda 3 off road can you??? Toyota Hilux ranks second to the most sold cars in Australia for the year, there's not another 4 x 4 on the list is there?

take out government mines and commerical and you will get very different figures. mind ypu most mines are steering clear of them too.

im not saying the lux is a bad truck. but i can not see why the badge is worth an extra 10 to 12k.
tritons are cheap because its the only way they can compete with all the next gen. modles. They are a 7 year old design. mind you they were about 4 years ahead of their time

I didn't know the new hilux had changed fuel systems so it isn't common rail any more ?
The Nissan patrol 3.0l had bad common rail problems also ! I'm not saying they aren't a poop setup just better than the rest is all :) :)

Agree, my oldman's hilux was a lemon, I had three other blokes at work who had the same issue.

Is the dirty fuel toyotas fault ?
During the wet season the servos up here are bad for water in the fuel I always drain the fuel bowl in my hilux just to make sure there's not water in it I've got 165000 on my 08 model now I try not to let the water warning light come on by checking/draining filter ;)
im about to hit 200000 on my 08 as well. Still going strong. I only run vortex premium.

Go toyota curt ya tight arse.

Ive owned my Hilux 4WD Diesel 08 since new. I have clocked up 170K, and run twin fuel filters (donaldson brand) swear by it due to Darwins Fuel Bunkers V the climate we live in.
Just did the Gibb River Rd and all through Kimberly in July Hols, ran BF Goodrich Mud Terrains, and it cruised across that rocky poop of a road. Was in Kununurra Ivanhoe Caravan Park for a stop over, Grey Nomad tells me he has a Nissan Navara, rock flew up underneath and shattered his sump, stuffed his gearbox blah blah. mechanic tells him he has to order parts in looking at 5-7 (consertatively) days to get parts and fix!! Mechanic told him had he had a HILUX would be done in 3!! Point Im making is lot of outback Mechanics have hilux and toyota parts on the shelf.

But i do like the Isuzu D-Max, that would be my definite second choice

Second that ambush.dual fuel filters is a definite for any car up here that does remote driving. I've got a 06 hilux and my previous car was a 98 hilux, that said I think that there is a lot of competition out there from the other manufacturers, and Toyota has not kept up the pace with r and d and vehicle features. Relying on loyalty. That said though, there are a lot of new utes on the market with plenty or bells and whistles (factory diff locks, mini doors on extra cab, vw with their facny engine and gearbox). However none of these with maybe the exception of the triton can boast the reliance and toughness that the hilux has earned. These cars rock up and say they can do all this stuff but the proof will be in the pudding. Give them about ten years and see if they are still going hard. And what ambush said, you can get Toyota parts anywhere

Kind of funny reading what knockers like to write....

So, I drive an 08 hilux, tow 4.85 seajay with a 60 honda.....my car is rubbish, my boat will crack and floor will fall apart, and my motor will corrode like an asprin, I use diawa reels with drags that don't work, and shimano reels with bearings that will cease, and the hooks I put on my lures arnt stong or sharp enough! Hahahahahaha!
