Roper hunt.
So it was decided that a quick trip to roper river way was overdue,
The car was loaded with essensial's and hunting gear and we took of into the night.
the next day started 2 day's of stalking some billobong's out there, hot and hard work in the build up.
the first day spent checking many bilobong's trying to find pig's we lucked out and couldnt even pick up fresh sign till late arvo, we found one that held sign and sighted pig's so we set up camp.
The next day came and we glassed the waterway and put a pattern on the pig's,
the previous trip i took a pig down so it was my hunting buddy's turn, we had a few stalk's threw the day but he lucked out on them all,
felling exausted we hit camp for a cold bevvy and to refill the water stock's.
after failing at a few stalk's the lead was handed to me,
from this moment i had the most enjoyable afternoon, i took 2 nice pig's all up with the bow.
and will certaintly be going back there ASAP!

Re: Roper hunt.
what checks do you do for worms, TB or any other diseases?
I've done a few legs off pigs from mangos. The pigs we were getting at roper were feeding mostly off dead cattle etc

Leptospirosis can be caught when cutting the kidneys
And
brucellosis (porcine and bovine) – a bacterial disease
causing severe long-term illness, undulant fever
and possible infertility, both strains are contracted
by handling raw meat. (leave it boys )
Pays to wear surgical gloves when cutting feral pigs up, Cheap bit of protection IMHO
work with vets at AQIS that do feral pig surveys
