Yamaha F80 Trim and Tilt- click only
Hi guys,
My electric trim isn't working. I can hear the solenoid click when I press the trim and tilt buttons (both on the motor and the throttle), but the engine won't budge. It has happened a couple of times over the last few trips and come good again. This time it seems like it is stuffed. Anything I should try? Battery is full, engine starts fine. Cheers!

give the electric motor that runs the pump a light tap with a hammer while you hold the trim up or down button, if that gets it going then the trim pump motor is stuffed/on the way out.
even if that doesn't work, the motor is the most likely issue.

Hey theo. had the same problem with my f40 about a month ago.It would work then not work.the solenoid would click but nothing would move.Got a new solenoid and all worked fine.It was about $350 fitted at the shop.
I done the tap tap first as Ajay said. Cheers

Cheers Ajay, gentle tap and it is alive again! Is there a kit to rebuild these things? Or am I better off coughing up for a new one?

its just the electric motor, the pump is fine. they might sell rebuild kits but I doubt it. you're probably better off just getting a new one, very easy to remove and replace.

www.iboats.com ship to Australia and pretty quickly too. Also, don't discount In & Outboard Marine, they will sell parts over the counter which has benefits too.

Anyone know the part number or number of equivalent parts (maybe the US F70 and F90 have the same motor?). The mitor is 2010. Cheers,

Buy genuine and local would be my advice, costs more but the parts will last and you have support if they do fail.theodosius wrote:Anyone know the part number or number of equivalent parts (maybe the US F70 and F90 have the same motor?). The mitor is 2010. Cheers,

I have the same engine and had the seals replaced on mine yesterday. I used Ian at Darwin Outboard Service in Winnellie. Professional job and well priced and he's got a lot of experience working on Yamaha's (ex IAOBM). Might be worth seeing him.

I'd have the manual for your engine here somewhere if you want.
