No Jeff, no intention to pod it the hull is a proven performer as it is. However trim tabs will probably be an option at some stage.

Dannet, I have looked at doing that for my 12 footer to improve shallow water take off and to offset my heavy ar$# standing up the back. Does it improve stability at rest?

Hi All,
Just another quick update, not much to look at as most of the recent work has been surface prep for paint this weekend. (Finally, thank ....) However I did finish the back steps and fit two transom plates for underwater lights and transducers. The last couple of boats I've owned have always needed more than one place for transducers ect. And I have never been keen in holes in the transom for underwater lights so I figured I'd get ahead of the bell curve on this one.
Cheers,
John.

Smart idea John , Don't know why manufacturers aren't doing it in the first place , bugger all extra expense.

Surtees come out with them and they are a brilliant idea.

Just from experience, i wish mine were a tad longer though. Trim tabs take up most of the space with just enough room for 2 transducers with the live bait fittings and deck wash fittings.

Awesome posts DB, some great ideas and inspiration for some of us to spend more.

Cheers.

John,

Hard to say how much it improved boat as they have always been there, that said, the boat always sits very stable regardless of how people move around in the boat. It's a 5.2m plate boat with a 100 hp, the beam and freeboard are't huge and it draws about 6 inches of water at rest.

The pods sit very close to the water's surface and only ever go under by say an inch even when both people are in the same corner. I would like it if they were just a little higher as the soles of your shoes can get wet if you stand on them and the other person is towards the rear of the boat but that's more a function of their overall height.

Hi All,
So paint is finally underway, with the etch prime and two coats of undercoat down. The final topcoats will tell the story but so far so good! 8)

Hi all,
Paint is finally done. Some issues holding a wet edge due to not being able to work with enough paint volume with the mechanical gun so it will need to be polished but otherwise very happy with the final product.

Hi all,
A bit more progress over the weekend after not being able to get much done lately. Typically I ran out of glue to do the forward bulkhead and uder the gunnels late today, the padding on the deck used up more than I thought it would. :banghead:

It's starting to come together now though.

Also picked up some diamond deck that was just the thing to finish off the boarding steps.

Cheers,

John.

Getting there mate , hey where did you get the rubber tread for the back steps ?
I was looking for some a while ago and neither Clark or NT rubber had it .
