I know what your saying Scottie and appreciate your help in getting it sorted. I have always praised your work mate. There us clearly still an issue with it and last time I went there neither of the office boys wanted to help. Byron has now offered a solution and the boat will come back in next week sometime at this stage.

See how it all goes and what can be donem

Fair whack of custom work and extra weight would make it a lot harder to set a new motor, even harder if this has been done since motor has been fitted.

Had some of the fastest ski boats in Aus when I ran the bridge to bridge 20 odd years ago with several boats and twice as many motors. Gets to a point that there is only so much that can be done as far as motor position.

May I ask how many blades your prop has and weight of boat.

Thinking wedges would be needed without pictures of set up.

A burr the size of a match stick (thickness) could effect the burn on prop so don't know what the hahahahahah was all about,

Happy to have a look one day

Kinda what I was getting at andy without getting too far into it. Byron is a ex racing champion having won bridge to bridge and had race boats for more then 30 years and there's not much about engine height or props he don't know about. Burrs on the hull/keel can cause cavitation burn its simple in saying that i dont think this is the issue with brendans boat. Other dealers and people who simply are misinformed or think they know but don't are generally quick to judge but not offer a solution.

It's the standard 3 blade solar prop.
Burn marks have been there and been getting worse well before the mods were done.

The overheating issue was also there before the mods were done and has gotten better after the motor was dropped one hole. However the burn marks still getting.worse.

The hull was cleaned of burs last time it went in for the service. So this should not be the problem.

No idea what's going on. But Byron has offered to have a look at it after this post went up. So hopefully it can go in next week and see if it can he fixed.

You do realise that boat hulls are engineered for weight of a model and changing the weight of a boat and not the hull ie length or width will cause nearly all the issues you are having..
That is a fair bit of weight you have added....

I added a total of 102kg from what was there with the t top, 12mm ply and added bracing under it.
Extra if the second tank is full obviously. It's not added as much as people think as we took the t top abd frame out, smaller lighter console etc.

All of these issues were prior to the mods Andy. The overheating issue is now less of a problem with more weight at the rear. Sits around 86 degrees now. The alarm goes off at 92 and motor shuts down.

disco wrote:I dunno about dealers but Michael from Promotor Trailers has already been real good with me for my boat trailer.

Had some issues when I first bought it and chassis had to be rebuilt, his quote was the cheapest & then I added some stuff to it which he charged stuff all for.

One Thursday night I noticed my winch had broken and he managed to get it sorted for me on Friday so I could fish Saturday. It wasn't ready until 5.30pm so I know they were working on it past 5pm on a friday, gotta appreciate that!
Agreed disco, I've had nothing but good, prompt service from Michael at Promotors trailers. He doesn't charge an arm and a leg either and nice bloke to boot

Not a complaint but looking to replace an older (and busted) 115 Honda with a new 115 hp possibly Suzuki or Yamaha. Who is the best dealer in town for sales and service- not necessarily on Suzi or yam I but on any make? I don't mind if they are a bit dearer than the average, I just want want to stick with one mob that I can have complete confidence in with my boat re servicing etc

I have thumbs up for Promotor as well. they built my camper trailer about 10 years ago and its been all over the countryside. each time I have taken it back in for mods I've been very happy with the prices.

Also thumbs up for Quality Marine. Some people complain they charge more than others but you get what you pay for.
