shallow water

Post by Tiwi Storm »

whats the shallowest water ya can go through before coming to strife?
or having to lift the motor up to shallow drive? (no power trim and tilt)

I've gone through about 0.8m, but don't know how much less than that i can go :|

it's a 4.29m

yes the sphincter goes to defcon 1(maximum readiness) when my sounder says .4m. But i can push along off the plane idling and just scrapping the mud/sand when it reads .3.

If I put a heavy object(I'm refering to you Shallow Drive, aka Flynn) on the nose I can just get along at .2 of a metre. Lucky I have that stainless Mud Prop' installed!

If I knew the bottom was flat I'd be happy to stay on the plane in .3-.4

my old 4.35 hornet 40hp yammie was good for 0.3m flashing on the sounder at fully noise. tested and proven at the east alligator and i knew i had no dramas as i was following a 580 top ender with a 115hp. if he could make it i could  mind you i was holding on tight for that inevitable dead stop that occurs when you hit something at speed. like the sand bar at browns creek :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

my mate's nomad 445 gets by in .4 flat out.. we did have a particularly hairy experience coming back into dinah beach at night.. pitch black, no spottie (was left in the car) and .2 on the sounder! solution: dock at fishermen's wharf, call the missus to bring down supplies (what a woman), and head back out again!
Cheers,
Stuch.
