Gotta catch the bl..dy things first. But they're here alright.

I never used to think big barra until it reached 120. Since the nets have gone, it now takes 140 to raise any excitement.

Maybe that's why no takers to our little comp within a comp suggestion.

Me too but not so quietly. Haven’t wet a line since November and was going out today but Honda came to the party with some warranty work instead.

Post em up I reckon. There’s still a 4th, 5th & 6th prize and might encourage some tourism in Rocky.

Guides have been getting international fishing tourists from Japan, England and the US all of last year. Not sure how that's going to be with "the great Chinese unmentionable" this year.

Saratoga seems to be the most saught after species by Japs and Yanks. Brits go for barra and sharks.

Rest of fishing tourism has been of Aus origin.

Everyone wants to catch a wild barra and Fitzroy is about the first opportunity up the coast that they go through. + there's some big ones here AND they can do it right in the CBD (no travel time to waste for guides).

Two half day guiding outings in CBD pays more than 1 all day outing with some travel times involved.

It sounds very good Ron, but the Fitzroy can't replicate the magic of being out on a wild Top End floodplain :D

It seems that the cause of the "great Chinese unmentionable" has been resolved at last.

Was listening to local ABC FM radio earlier on a program called "The Drum".

One of the panelists revealed the cause.

Climate change!!

Almost choked on "me beer". Couldn't believe it.

It never for one moment crossed my mind that it would come up in any sane conversation.

I guess it shows what a lousy judge of ratbags I am.

There'll be a audio tape of it on the ABC website. The Drum.

Latest from the US about the great Chinese unmentionable.

Governor of New York State plans to call out NY's National Guard to put a 1 mile containment ring around the city of New Rochelle as a containment line following large numbers of infections there.

Hark back to the movie "Outbreak" in middle 90s (Dustin Hoffman & Morgan Freeman) about a similar thing at a US town. National Guard called out to put a containment line around a town....etc.etc.

Fallback plan there was to "nuke" the whole place (citizens and all) with a large fuel air explosive device to stop the spread.

Wonder if Trumpie has a spare device available that the Governor can use for New Rochelle?

I think Matt was right about complacency in the US.

That's exactly what happened in Italy. Didn't take it seriously. Now the US is paying the same price.

Other trading partners of US in world did though and are now much more progressed than the US in containment and treatment.

US is now finding that it has to play "catch-up" and that's having a huge adverse effect on its economy.

Now the US stock markets are lagging behind what the rest of the world's markets are doing. Things have reversed. The Aus market is leading the US and not following.

Guess that we'll simply have to wait until the great Chinese unmentionable infections in the US are starting to stabilise and that point switch Aus investments from "safe" mode into max growth. Might have lost 4% by having defensive position on the down but will pick up that 4% plus another 5-6% on the up.

So its not all doom and gloom on everybody's superannuation if you have taken the time and interest to follow threats and opportunities in relation to yr super money.

They are now saying it does fine in the heat ... https://tbsnews.net/international/coron ... -who-56650

Another report says use paracetamol if you get symptoms, not ibuprofen.

Have to say, this is probably the most sensible opinion piece I’ve read yet! :D
