Bali, like most of asia is awash with drugs matt.. Poverty breeds it..
Youve Got to remember..these guys are the ring leaders and tried to smuggle over 8 kilos of herion.. Over 4 million dollars worth... Thats no chump change!!!!
In indonesia, that amount of herion is then cut & extended into a street herion product called
"putauw".. This poop product kills over 50 people aday in Indonesia & leads to alot of crime, prostitution etc etc etc.....
They werent just messing around with pot, grog, smuggling smokes etc... They dealt with the most dangerous most outlawed contriband in asia...

I see dealers and traffickers of herion not much different to serial killers.. Same end result.
I believe people such as Martin Bryant, who killed 35 innocent people on a Sunday morning should not rot in jail... Should be taken out back and disposed of.
In australia, we pay the cost everyday and lock these lowlifes up, in asia they dont.

Heavy penalties for heavy crimes in asia...if ya dumb enough to do it & and get caught... Bang bang!! Im not very sympathetic when it comes to criminals and im not trying offend anyone who is, i spend a lot of time in asia and i can see why they have the laws and penatlies they have.

No offence taken Hemi, It's clear you and I have some differing views on a few issues. Be a route if we all had the same views on everything. Everyone would be fishing in my spot for a start  .

So what are you saying Matt, we are allowed to break their laws because some officials are corrupt. Also I would question the purpose of the links you put up. I haven't heard of any drug cartel in Indo executing 50 people at a time.

What about the mine lease corruption in NSW, and those bastards will get away with it. What a p..s weak justice system we have.

Does Singapore have a drug/corruption problem?

Not against adequate punishment, but in corrupt countries harsh punishments are often used against the wrong people, eg whistleblowers, business competitors etc. Whose to say a bunch of better connected drug dealers aren't still going strong in Bali because they are paying bribes?

Legalise the stuff I reckon, sell it with a tax to pay for medical issues that arise, and put non-stop ads on TV, radio etc showing what a loser's game hard drug use is. I doubt there would be a rush of new users, might even be fewer deaths because junkies know what they are buying, no more contamination, no varying strength ... and no more drug dealers.

And your right Matt, its the risk that you take when you go in to those countries. Two years ago the prior president udi ono Bang Bang gave a pardon to group of dudes and twelve months later one of them is top dog in drug ring caught by indo police again. Didn't he cop some flak over that boo boo. I always wondered about Mainline China, when the Communists took over they executed 30,000 addicts. I read a report that we now get ice being imported from china. When the drug money talks, principles walk. Matt what you are saying will never happen, once the nanny brigade have totally barred tobacco products they will start on your alcohol you will have to be on a politicians salary to be able to afford to drink.

What s...ts me is that Australia is spending millions trying to save them. The rules were set, they all know them, they rolled the dice and lost. Want to play with fire you gonna get burnt......or shot.

Indonesia made the rule so we have to play by them if we go there. Simple maths in my head.

If they were man enough to play the game they should be man enough to accept the consequences.
All the bs of things they have done in jail to put up a smoke screen of how they have change is borderline embarrassing. Time to man up and stop embarrassing yourself.

I feel sorry for their family and friend who were bought into this circus.

Judging by the docco the other night I don't think that have brain capacity to be a king pin at anything.

Sharpel should have been locked up for life is well. What a joke !

The sooner they shoot this pair, the sooner it is off the TV. Sick of seeing how our polaticians have been pleading and sucking the preverbial of the Indo govt, all for two drug smugglers.

I think one point to consider is the overwhelming lack of anything that may bring into question their guilt....its not like a small amount was found secreted in their bags with claims that they didn't know it was there. They had kilo's of the poop taped to their bodies! They knew the risks and they took a gamble and lost! I am also sick of politicians and celebrities speaking out on my behalf saying "Australians don't support the death sentence at all", which in my case is simply not true. Australians don't even get a say on the issue....it is not debated.....which IMHO is a pity.
I feel most sorry for the families and the sorrow they will experience, but I just wish as much moral outrage and political pressure was brought to bear on the Catholic Church for all the victims of sexual abuse and the lives they have destroyed, innocent children supposedly in the care of "pillars of the community"........now there is a case for the death penalty!
No matter where you go, there you are!
