To quote: "Australians are now paying a price higher than the international price for gas. There’s even talk about Australia importing its own gas back because this would be cheaper."

Australia is the sell out country. We are about to overtake Dubai as the largest gas exporter in the world. The make trillions of dollars in royalties from gas. We barely make a few billion (I forget the actual numbers but it's absurd).

Re: Australia - moron with gas
Aside from flogging ore and gas, our big "industries" seem to have become residential real estate investment and immigration.
It's a miracle the economy has held together as long as it has.
Well set up for a big fall ...

Hard to believe. I'd say the country is managed by incompetents, but the people who made the decisions would have competently pocketed a fortune ... http://www.news.com.au/finance/business ... 332e683fbd
Australian gas should be available to any Australian manufacturing export industry at giveaway prices, which would be a huge advantage for our industry.
Instead, what do they get ...

Hereyago ... they are building an import terminal so gas can be imported into Australia ... https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... -exporters
Which is like Saudi Arabia building an oil import terminal ...
It seems there are things seriously wrong with how this country is run.

That just proves how corrupt the system is and how little anyone can do about it. The rest of the world must be looking back and thinking "Australia, you dense, mother fcukers. You're getting robbed mate!"

Who was in charge of thinking.......
The good news is we'll tip another $120M down the drain to find out if a bloke can marry his best mate.
If Aust was a registered company the Directors would be facing a spell in the big house.
I'm going fishing.

Country's gone to the dogs. I feel sorry for my kids. Just like the circus that is my workplace, if you told an outsider abut some of the goings on, they wouldn't believe you. Farcical!

Re: Australia - moron with gas
Lots of things in play here gents. gas prices on long term supply contracts is usually a lot lower than the current market price. The east coast's inability to reserve a percentage of all gas taken from inside state boundaries has forced the issue further. So the corporates control the market price domestically due to the lack of secured gas from operating assets, oil and gas prices are low and so you will end up in this situation. The NT has the opposite issue currently, hence the desire to link into the eastern seaboard pipe network as it just gets burnt off as we have more than we can currently use.

Thought this was interesting, re petrol ... http://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Saudi ... ne_prices/
Nice to know there's one thing where Australia is not paying the most.
Don't spose you know how the price of a bottle of NT gas compares with a bottle of Qld gas atm?The NT has the opposite issue currently, hence the desire to link into the eastern seaboard pipe network as it just gets burnt off as we have more than we can currently use.
