Salmon central

Post by Flickin4em » Wed May 22, 2019 6:08 pm

After a quick trip via tackle world I headed out with yet another new lure ....You can't have too many, contrary to popular belief of some peoples wives or girlfriends. :D

Heaps of troll laps for big barra were covered without any hits. Which wasn't that suprising, without any even showing up on the Lowrance for a few hours. So a backup plan was put into place and I headed out for a quick flick at the salmon. As usual there was a heap of them around and before long I had saved the day out and scored a few for a feed.

Just waiting for the wind to bugger off and then I'll probably get back out amongst 'em again.

I'd be happy with that. I haven't been out for a month and it's starting to hurt. :applause:

Hi Sullo, have you got any pics of what we should be looking for?

I haven't seen any in the ones I've got but over the years I have noticed that the barra sometimes have a small black worm or 3 in their fillet near the stomach cavity which I reckon has been transferred from a baitfish that they've eaten as it abandons the dead host fish. :|

Seen trevally full of worms, and jewies. Never a barra. Have caught barra with black flecks on the skin and jelly flesh.

Hi Flicken I have caught a fair few blue salmon in bynoe with worms. Like sullo said they are white and often right through the fillet top to bottom. Easiest to see from inside of fillet before being skinned.
