Barra everywhere
Put aside concerns about a possible lack of fish because of the previous four poor wet seasons.
The big rain has done its job and hundreds of barra have been seen on downscans in Sampan and Tommycut Creeks out of Shady Camp, and at the mouth of the Adelaide, and some good fish have been caught.
The tip from Shane Compain, who just fished Shady Camp, is to work the sounder hard and locate the fish. The barra were congregated in hundreds in a 1km section of creek when he was there.
He was trolling 12ft lures slowly to get fish. However the fish were not easy to entice.
He also caught a load of smaller barra and salmon on a mud ledge.
Same has been reported from the mouth of the Adelaide, with a huge mob of fish schooled at one of the Wilshire creeks, but not feeding, with only isolated fish caught through the river.
There are loads of Powertail in Chambers Bay at the moment, so be sure you have barra on your sounder.
So the motto is : Find 'em and work 'em hard.
Even if fish numbers are down, there are still hundreds of them and a good number of fish in the 90s seem to be about.
Every day will be different, but the rivers are dropping and it should fire on this set of bigger tides.
Fish on!

Can't wait until next Wednesday. Got three days off on big springs.
I'm due for a change of luck after the monsoon and then the knobs who destroyed Shady road ruining my last two planned trips.

Still a bit early. Wait for the receding waters and the numbers will come.

Re: Barra everywhere
I reckon next weekend and the start of the week will be wet as a decent tropical depression moves across our north. I am just hoping it is all cleared up by the 9th.

Re: Barra everywhere
Shane was very clear that the fish were in a certain area, and it was inside, not outside. Seems they do congregate in certain areas at times. If you are not where the bulk of the fish are you won't do any good, unless they move in with the tide.
