On a basic reef pick you should be able to straighten the prongs by driving them off and not need to use the cable tie system. If you cant straighten the prongs usually means the chain is wrapped or jammed in a bomie. If using a Bruce, plough or sand anchor in a reefy area the trip system may work but I still beleive you are asking for trouble eventually.
