I have mixed feelings re licences. The first is that at the point in time when you pass the test, you have a knowledge of the rules.
The second is that everyone who drives has a licence and that, at the time they took the test, they had a knowledge of the rules.
This doesn’t mean they will do the right thing.

The details surrounding this terrible accident will come out eventually. The cops have said that grog wasn’t an issue.
I hope that the family makes a full recovery.
I agree Matt. I wonder about the per capita accidents here versus other states. I would also love to know the number of rescues here v other states.

As stated before, having a license won't stop accidents happening, if that were the case the road toll would be a lot less...I did my boat license test in Mackay about 10 years ago while I was there for a bit, the guy running the course as good as said at the start nobody fails, and true to his word he coached a couple of people doing it until they had passed their written test, the practical test was a laugh as well, 5 minutes going onto the plane and back off and some circle work around a bouy
best wishes to everyone involved

All recreational vessels in NT are subject to Collision Regulations.
Thats the law .
Best sit for the Boat quiz and improve your knowledge of Collision regulations.

agree with you all and valid points, yes some times accidents happen. I have a licence and I used to have a registered boat in W.A. Some of you may remember the two young fellas who died back in Dampier W.A a few years ago. He had a licence, knew what he was doing, boat rego'ed all safety gear etc. but if you put the boat on auto pilot and catch a few zzz's you're asking for trouble. Skipper was the boyfriend of our au pair at the time of whom we had to tell her the bad news.

All the best to all involved.
