Easter Lake Awoonga

Post by aussiebasser »

Pam and I hit Awoonga for Easter. The water has risen just under 20' since Christmas so it was like fishing a completely different lake. We landed two Barra and dropped quite a few on surface lures and fly. Pam got a 101, and I got a 108.

Dale nice post.

Which area of the lake did you find productive? I'm looking to fish Boynedale area soon.
Looks like you picked up the fish during the day. I was lead to believe the night fishing was more productive. Any tips would be helpful

Thanks

Dex, I hate fishing at night. I'm old and can't see much in the dark anymore. The 108 was at 8.00am near the mouth of Futter Creek fishing swimbaits in the shallow water. Pam's was trolled near the wall a bit later on.
Boynedale area is worth a try. The southerlies are blowing at the moment and the place has shut down for the last couple of days.

if ur lookin for barra at awoonga its time to start lookin at a bit depper water with the cold weather/water setting in so if u have a good sounder look for structure in the main basin like the old trees, or get up around the outside of dingo island. the rock wall just before the bluff is goin quite well from wat i have heard atm if u dont mind the drive from the main ramp or the short ride from the sand ramp at boynedale.
