Possibly going fishing there next week.
Can someone tell me the tide difference, ie:- diffence between Darwin tide and when it pushes up to say Browns and or Elizabeth creek.
I'm looking at Monday 6th June.
Darwin tide:- 0900 = 7 mt ; and 1500 = 2.5mt
Cheers.

I work on about 4 hrs at Elizabeth and 5 1/2 at Browns......after Darwin times. It can vary wildly.

Best thing to do is check the tide change once you get on the river and go from there.

Hi Scamper
If you add 5 hours to the low and 3 hours to the hi off Darwin tide times at Elizabeth you will be very close as the tide runs out for longer than it runs in due to the influence of the fresh coming down especially when the river is above its normal level. As blinky said it can vary widely between neaps & springs. cheers

Also, can anyone tell me if rock bars on the Daly become a hazard on spring lows. I am mainly concerned with the river down to Elizabeth Creek.
Do any of them become impassable or hide just under the water?
Cheers

kangaroo rock bar on the golden mile is the main problem. it crosses the whole river nearly. There is a channel on the Western bank that you can get through at all tides. Be carefull on the down stream side there is a couple of logs as you come out of the channel. The bar is marked with a big white float hanging off a big stump on that western bank.

Ther is a couple of other bars upstream more if you are coming from banyan farm. Hard to explain where but ask somebody when there and they should be able to tell you. Travell slow and pay attention to swirling or rippling water. If you see some be cautious around it.

Yep CC is right.

Rocks downstream from Banyan on the right and further down on the left is a sandbar and rocks/trees on the left just near Wooliana.

Download the map fromhttp://www.mangofarm.com.au/Animations/RIVER%20MAP1.pdf very helpful

Browns Creek is very shallow at low as well

Cheers and good luck

Cheers guys. Its a great help. I recently had family up for an engagement/house warming party and wanted to put them onto some Barra but didnt want to drive all that way and get 500m down stream and have to wait half the day to get over it. Or worse, get stuck on the way home, as the tides were 6.5m. My boat isnt exactly small (6.1m Top Ender) but if there is 1m of water, slow and steady does me fine. Unfortunately for my family the wind wouldnt stop blowing so I couldnt get into the blue water and I am very much still on my "L Plates" in the harbour.

Cheers
