QLD net free areas

Talk about bungled boat ramps, net buybacks, marine no-go zones, mining disasters etc here.

QLD net free areas

Post by tristan.sloan »

Many of you may be aware that The QLD Government made an election promise to bring in three key recreational fishing only net-free areas last election in; St Helens Beach to Cape Hillsborough; Keppel Bay to Fitzroy River; and Trinity Bay.

The Queensland Government is now under severe pressure from the powerful commercial fishing lobby to stop these three proposed net-free recreational fishing areas. We understand the Queensland Government will make a decision on the Net Free Zones early next week.

The Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation has asked AFANT and its members to help send a strong message to the QLD Government that recreational fishermen throughout Australia expect them to keep their election promises.

If we are to achieve other net free zones in Queensland and throughout Australia we need to ensure the Queensland Government implements these three key recreational fishing only net-free areas .

What You Can Do:

Send a letter to the Premier, Treasurer and Fisheries Minister to show your support for the Net Free Areas at:

2. Let all your friends and family and fishing mates know that their recreational fishing future is under threat and if we don’t act we could lose the three promised Net free Zones.
