Call for help from recreational fishermen- Hawksbill turtle

Talk about bungled boat ramps, net buybacks, marine no-go zones, mining disasters etc here.

Call for help from recreational fishermen- Hawksbill turtle

Post by tristan.sloan »

Wasn't quite sure where to put this guys but AFANT has been approached by ARK animal hospital in Palmerston for help with feeding an endangered turtle "HEFF” the Hawksbill Turtle.

Heff is an endangered Species. He has an excellent chance of recovery but it will take a long time (about 12 months). He only eats white fleshed fish such as Golden Snapper, Queenfish, Barramundi and Trevally but not Salmon. So if you catch a couple of the named species either whole or in fillets would you keep them (freeze them) and donate them to the ARK ANIMAL Hospital in Palmerston. Phone (08) 8932 9738

Try a queenfish or a trevally STANDY.....I'm sure it will hurt less than a goldie ;)

Assuming the weather :surf: comes good on a weekend eventually  Tristan, what are the chances of getting a chit written out from you guys or the Ark people to get a couple of extra goldies over the new limit for the little guy.
Oh I guess that will depend on if AFANT and Fisheries bury the hatchet or not I guess.

Always happy to donate to good causes, but is it not against the law to give away the fish you catch??
