Looking at getting a bimini for the boat. Any info would be great and much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Bimnis? Which one
just my two cents feel free to ignore
they make it hard to net/gaff fish and are even annoying when you've something large belting around/under your boat
i used to have one but now i use a beach umbrella in a rod holder
it will blow away if it gets windy, but generally if there is wind you don't need it

Re: Bimnis? Which one
As soon as a big fish is hooked in my boat the Bimini comes down- takes 2 seconds

Re: Bimnis? Which one
I dont bother with bimini anymore...
Instead just cover up.. Long sleeves, pant, frillneck etc etc....
I find fishing easier without it and i get hot/burnt less by covering up instead.
But, if you need one, id get someone like "all car upholstery" on winnellie road to make one...
Better built than those 'ready to buy' products from boat shops..

Get small bimini for just over where you sit, so much better sitting in the shade , southwind from iobm.

Get one with a longer over hang on the edges for added pertection. I use to hate them getting in the way but in the last afew year with the kids tagging along I can't live without it. Takes about 10 degrees of a hot day.

Re: Bimnis? Which one
i hate biminis, they get in the way....
On my old boat i had a fixed flat one, it had 2 ally uprights on each side of the centre console and one at the back of the boat, that way you only had one bit that got in the way when you hooked up.
The new boat has a similar setup, but its a custom jobby where it either fixes to the centre console, or the back of the casting deck, and there is a large t bar over the transom bait board where it gets rolled up into and out of the way. It can cover nearly 3 metres of the deck and once again the only bit in the way when fighting a fish is the uprights each side of the bait board. I'm yet to chase a barra in this boat but it's fine trolling the big gear in the bluewater.
