0.5m per day? not that quick. Olloo crossing has bottomed out at 7m, looks like it might have a small rise again. Upper daly looks to be rising all the way back to Katherine.
...more rain for the catchment on the way today and into late this week by the looks.
I doubt it will be falling at the crossing for too long
Still i'll bet there will be some good fishing to be had down there in the next couple of days.

You need to be there tomorrow for when it drops under that magical 10 m mark, any later and I reckon anything coming down from Katherine will put it up again. Like Nathan says............it will turn it on few a couple of days.
OH for a day off work!!!!!!!!!!!!

the katherine river is low and it takes about 4 days to reach the daly. it will drop a bit this week. but its weather if the creeks are pumping out water and weather there is bait there to attract the fish and sometimes the creeks on the way to the daly can hold u up wid the local rain.

Katherine might be low and slow, but the fergusson/cullen catchment has rocketed up overnight as has the douglas. Looks like it's already having an effect ...

Yep just looking at the Katherine river is a big folly I reckon. There are so many other tributaries that run into this river such as the ferguson and fish river to name a couple that all bottle neck between MT Nancier and down as far as below Elizabeth creek which is where the banks finally widen out and the river isnt restricted by cliffs and high bank so much.

Hope it stays above 12 metres untill March. The fishing will be unreal if it stays right up for an extended period. Allows for the fish to travell in and out of the bongs and for the bait to breed in mass proportions up on the flood plains.

PRIORITY
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for Damaging Winds, Heavy Rainfall, Abnormally High Tides and Large Waves for people in the Darwin-Daly District Issued at 5:17 pm CST on Friday 21 January 2011
Synoptic Situation: A TROPICAL LOW 1001 hPa is located over land near Kununurra. At 3:30 pm CST it was near latitude 15.8S, longitude 129.0E, about 30 kilometres east of Kununurra, moving slowly north northeast. The low is expected to remain near the coast and may intensify during Saturday.
Damaging wind gusts up to 90 km/h are expected with thunderstorms in the western Darwin-Daly District tonight and Saturday. Large waves and abnormally high tides are expected to develop along the coast between Cape Fourcroy and the Western Australian border during Saturday. Areas of heavy rain over the Darwin-Daly District may cause localised flooding and significant stream rises tonight and Saturday.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should secure loose outside objects and seek shelter when the conditions deteriorate. Driving conditions may be hazardous - avoid flooded roads and watercourses. Abnormally high tides could cause minor flooding at the coast.
The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm CST Friday 21 January.
This warning is also available on telephone 1300 659 214 or on the internet at www.bom.gov.au.
