Hi all,
Am planning a road trip early november from perth to broome. Will be more than likely hugging the coast line (as much as possible) and have a few places penciled in that we would like to fish but it is mostly unknown to us. We plan on fishing and driving and thats about it, will have an able 4wd but no boat so fishing will be land based. Have allowed about 10 days give or take and we are after as much info as we can get. Somebody told me to grab a coppy of fishfinder mag but am unsure if it covers this side of aus? If there is anyone out there that has some advice or places we should stop at to fish or even any publications eg, maps, mags or books your help and advice will be much appriciated. Something that you may think is useless information may be invaluable to us so please dont hesitate to write a post, cheers.

Hey mate
Did Darwin to Perth at the end of 09 over about 2 months. A few spots worth a look are Coral Bay can stay in caravan park or theres a nice camp ground if you turn right just before town, heaps of beach 4wding and fishing really nice spot. Cape Range National Park at Exmouth is a MUST MUST DO!! Most brillant spot ever imho! Get there early as cant book campsites and only so many cars in at once, the guys at gate will tell you which sites are avail and if your nice will tell you which is the better ones. Sight casting the ningaloo reef with kms of beach to yourself is brillant!! 80 mile beach south of broome is great heaps of threadies and Jew off beach and nice grassy campsites. Cape leveque area nice once again road is shocking but is worth it. Can dig out few books we used that are full of info, heaps more spots but you could spend the ten days at cape range itself. Have a great trip!!

Cheers guys i think we may have some trouble getting out of exmouth as that was the one place we penciled in as a must. Some real good info there. Will make sure i post a good report when the trips done. Also did manage to pick up a coppy of fishfinder magazine and have only just flicked through a couple of pages but looks the goods. Anyone else that has fished along that coastline pls keep the info coming.

Steep Point on the way to Denam is probably one of the best land based spots in Aust. Yardi Creek at Exmouth is good for Jack's Cape Keroiden just north of Port Headland is a top spot, we fished from a boat but off the rock would be good also. As said Kalbari for Jewies from the rock at the mouth of the river at night over the high tide.
So many spots so little time

Cheers guys some good info there. At this stage we have penciled in Kalbarri, cape range and 80 mile beach. Just not too sure about steep point. As much as we want to visit and fish the place we think it may be a bit out of our depths. read a bit of stuff on the place and it sounds amazing but most of the fishing info i am getting back is about helium balooning and im not sure if we are equiped enough for it. Can the place be fished with lures and bait, and if so is it still worthwile going? Still open to any other sugestions too so if you know the area at all please share the info, Cheers guys.

Make sure you call into Kalbarri. Go to the river mouth and fish off the rocks with roosta poppers for tailor. They also get plenty of big mulloway. If you can get across the river i think they catch some decent size tailor off the reef there. Pub does a pretty good feed to. There are these little shacks on the right as you drive in that are pretty cheap as well if your chassing a bed.
There's a lot of good spots around exmouth as well so make sure you call in there.
Can't remember how far it is but between Karratha and Roebourne you turn left into a place called cleaverville (i think thats what it's called). and there's a few spots you can fish in there. Like Sea Reaper said it's pretty expensive to stay in Karratha so this might be a better option.
