I guess that what's being talked about here is a local community taking back control of its resource (the river).
NT has a version of it and Qld has a different version of it.
If its done for the right reasons its a good thing.
When its simply a grab for cash by an organisation purporting to be doing it on behalf a local community, its not so good.

It is a cultural thing. Thinking outside our conventional thinking, there is much merit to considering a river as a living thing.

Can you sue it for taking all your money and not giving you the fish it promised?

there is much merit to considering a river as a living thing.
And yet there are some who still see rivers as drains, to transport muck away from settlement/industry.

Those are 2 extreme views.
A living creature or a rubbish dump.
A balance would be of more use to a community.

Interesting concept, two people speaking on behalf of......has warning bells ringing loudly to me but it might be worth a shot to see what comes from it. The key will be the review and how it's enacted, hope that no gates are shut in that process.
