Weekly tropical note - 'more monsoon'

Post by Matt Flynn »

"In the coming week, models suggest strengthening wind surges from the northern hemisphere could increase this tropical activity. Winds south of the trough are also expected to feed into the region, providing further energy to invigorate the monsoon. If this occurs, there is an increased risk of tropical low development to Australia’s north, with divergence amongst models as to the timing and location.
While April is the last month of the official Australian tropical cyclone season, tropical cyclones are not uncommon at this time of the year. If there is a monsoon trough over water, there is the potential for tropical lows and cyclone development."
