Hi - there is only one ramp on the Finniss, the freshwater ramp at Hardcastle which is not tide affected. It is affected by flooding however.

The bank launch at the mouth is not an official launch site and that's why there's not much info in the book. You have to launch by 4WD near the top of the tide as it is boggy.

Access to the mouth used to involve 4wding through the dunes then a trip across the high tide mark on the actual beach in 50mm deep saltwater trapped in the ripples in the sand for a km or more at 5m or less tide. To launch you are on a steep sandbar in the river mouth itself with no winch points BYO ground anchor maxx traxx and long handled shovel just in case. we used to run up to this section in a v6 cage buggy hilux on 33in muddies running 20- 15 psi and never had a drama launching or towing a trailered 3.6 with a 30hp suzuki.
