Best Boat Cover Material for NT

Post by Splash »

All,

I will be having my new 4.1m SC Polycraft custom fitted with a new boat cover in Darwin.

Can you recommend the best type of material for this application and the best people in Darwin to perform this job for me.

Tips and traps for methods of attaching this cover to the hull?

Are there attachment points (for cover) I should ensure exist on the hull as part of the manufacturing of this hull?

What should I be requesting from the specialist who will fit out this cover?

Speak the The Canopy Man. He did mine and it was a perfect job. Basically take it in and he will give the options of different materials and securing options.

Yeah mate he's in Bishop Street. I am sure there are others out there, but he has done work for me and plenty of mates. Always a good job, good price.

Cheers

I got mine done recently by a chap.. George, works from his backyard, top job and did it in a day for a good price, I think about $1100 for boat and a motor cover (470 topender). Now the hard part, I have lost his phone number, he was recomended to me by a few marine trimmers who were too busy to do the job, so if you get his number make sure you check him out.. great job.

I did my boat in that heavy duty grey pvc (??) stuff and it has lasted me 6 years. The heavy duty material can be a big bulky to store away when not in use. It take up a fair bit of my shed at home.
I reckon the lighter material will be better if you are only using it to keep the dust out. might go with that on the next rig.

Hey luke79, was that George a timorese dude?

canopy man for sure, his names nick, great bloke, top quality and fair price, hes also got boats of his own at the front all the time and loves fishing so you know he speaks from experience as a trimmer and as a fellow fisherman.

so, in a 4.1m polycraft, fishing NT rivers only, what height bimini should I be going for?

And, shoudl this bimini cover entire llength of boat or a portion of the boat - which portion, etc?

I'll be flicking lures all of time....

make sure that you can drop it forward quickly when you fight a fish.
this gives you the best of both worlds, wide open spaces and sun protection

Thanks Jedi.

When u say 'drop it forward', what do u mean?

How do u drop it forward quickly?

What Ideal height above head should this canopy be, when standing on floor of boat??

I have made contact with Jeorge in Jingali, and will be getting him to do the work...
