young Arlie mixing it up!

Post by JR77 »

after experiencing catching his first cod at just 9 months old
Arlie 9months! 099_1.jpg
my now 3 year old son Arlie has really been hooking into some nice fish of late.

with the stand out catch being his first surface lure caught murray cod! the healthy 6lb+ cod
gave the young fella a good tussle managing to bury itself into some weeds but with a little extra persuasion
and help from Mal (pictured with Arlie) Arl had bagged his first top water cod! and was he proud!

if he didn't have the bug already he sure does now after an afternoon fish in greenhill lake (western vic) proving
fruitful once again for the young fisho with a 1.5lb rainbow added to his ever growing tally.
he was even happier when i told him that unlike the cod which was released, we could take it home for tea.

now i just have to get him filleting them too!! a bag of reddies from lake fyans biggest went 2.5lb.

what more can i say than get the kids out fishing they love it nearly as much as i love watching them catch fish!!

Great post JR77, THAT smile is what FFF Mate's Day, is largely about folks.
" YOUTH is a GIFT "
"AGE is an ART "
"Doesn't mean you get any smarter..just wrinkled and cracked".

"No angler watches nature in a passive way...He enters into its very existence." (John Bailey...Reflections on a Waters Edge)

"Govern a Family as you would catch a small fish....Very Gently." (Chinese Proverb)

"Only those become weary of angling who bring nothing to it but the idea of catching fish." (Rafael Sabatini...1857-1950)

I pray that one day God sends me a fish so big that, when talking of it...I have no reason to lie.

thanks guys.

B M the reddies were caught 3 weeks ago. got onto a big school and pretty much
every plastic cast into it was hit on the first twitch after letting it sink to the bottom.
i'v found fyans can be very hit and miss but if your lucky enough to find a school a red
hot bite can follow.

bully, when he finds out i'm coming up to go fishing without him i'm sure there will be a
few tears. he talks about going back to darwin all the time and also asks me to put on
fishing dvd's. "the ones with barra dad"!!

B M there isn't really anywhere right on the lake where you can legally bush camp,
there is a caravan park on the lakes edge that has a boat ramp and an area to leave your boat on.
if you were just planning to roll out a swag for a night or maybe 2 i'm sure you could do so around
the south west side of the lake near the boat ramp without being noticed just throw ya swag in vehicle
while your out fishing.
another option is lake lonsdale its on the north side of stawell. its been producing good numbers of reddies
around the 1lb mark with a few 2 lb thrown in.also the yabbies are on the crawl at night and its not hard
to get a good feed of big ones. no trout here though. plenty spots to camp and leave boat in water.
hope this helps mate let me know if i can be of more assistance.
cheers JR...
