Hi guys,
Whilst relativey new to Darwin and only been out a few times between Darwin and Bynoe Harbour, the missus and I are thinking of heading to Bynoe tomorrow morning and launching from Crab Claw mid way through the run out and then fish the low tide until it changes and runs in again toward the high.
Thinking of heading south toward Annie River, setting the crab pots along the way, and then flicking the drains... for barra... but will happily welcome anything that wants to have a go at our lures. Have only had very limited success up here on lures, and mainly caught the few fish trolling. And some on bait.
Anyone have any ideas where to try south of crab claw and any hints of how to attack the drains during the run out...
Any help would be valued, and hopefully make it a fun day for both me and the missus...
Cheers...

sounds like you have a good plan to me mate...
just stay out of the wind and sneak up onto the gutters slowly.. gradually working your way into them..
the fish can spook easily at times in the shallow water and bow waves etc can spoil things so keep things very calm and take your time moving into a casting position..

Not sure if this is true but was told by staff at Crabclaw that the ramp is privately owned by them and only people staying there can use it. Anyone confirm this?

Yeah that's true but you can use it for the price of the cheapest camp site. Which is $20 I think.

Re: Bynoe tomorrow 5 Oct 2013
Hey... Had a successful day yesterday on Bynoe.
Launched mid morning in Milne Inelt and then headed around Knife Island and south into the Charlotte. Once close to the Charlotte, trolled lures firstly and surprisingly picked up a queenie rather promptly! The queenie was then followed by a pretty good trevor! Things were looking pretty good. Both went into the ice, and were turned into numus for today's lunch.
Continued up the Charlotte setting a few crab pots, then continued fishing. Flicked lures at the drains and rock bars which were becoming exposed with the lowering tide. The missus picked up an impressive (60cm) Goldie! Gave her a great fight and is her best NT fish to date. Shortly after we were rewarded with another nice Goldie.
As the tide was increasing and we had been out throughout the change of the low, decided to pull the pots. Got 2 nice muddies and a couple sandies. One of the few crocs we saw must have likened the look of the crab bait, as he made mince of my crab pot!
All in all, was a great day on the water. And even got a nice few fish to enjoy. Thanks for the discussion guys.

Spent the weekend there for no barra but a mixed bag of rubbish.
Had some nice cold beers though
Did the sneaky stuff into the drains but not a cracker.
