Hi Fella's,
Yes a Barra around 40kgs region was apparantly caught at Kinchant Dam near Mackay, it looks like the one however this photo looks like a photo when you move the corners in and out e.g it distorts a bit. Anything near 40kgs is a swimming garbage bin, bl..dy huge. Reports are that it's around 135cm's. There are better photos of the fish on facebook that look massive. A 130cm was pulled out of Peter Faust Dam last week as well. No Doubt one of them will be on the cover of a magazine soon.

Well its definitely no Nile Perch and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt so yeah, I think its real. Would have been interesting seeing them put it back in the water again without tipping the boat or falling in.
Just checked the photos on FB and I reakon its legit.

Why is the shadow to the right when the photographer stands in front?
And if you are going to fake it why use a pondie?
These dam fish, I dunno, I reckon a 130cm dam fish is only worth a 110cm wild salty barra, for a variety of reasons ... think we need an official equalisation ratio so the worthiness of these fish can be matched up with 'real' barra

You beat me to it matt. have a look at the other things on the boat = no shadows. Unless another person is standing to the left of the photographer and took the pic at exactly the same time. nah, still doesnt work. why would someone waste so much time making a fake pic? maybe to get us to talk about it

Cant wait to catch a fish so big no-one believes its real
Best one so far...
As for the shadows... To me, they do look like the shadows that an SLR with a flash on the hotshoe, would do when you turn your camera on the side to do a portrait (vertical) pic instead of an horizontal one. And they seem pretty consistent in the details too, same detail in the fish and in the shadows in a few spot, makes me think that this could be real.
