Sorry Harmsie
I missed your response. Apologies
A number of mates are in Bounty.
Couple (Mitch Lester and Lee Jackson) won't 'cos the bait section has been dropped. They'll get over it by next year.
Might even go in next year myself.
Went down to the Bounty headquarters today to help Bill Sawynock.
Been successful competition with 1160 barra caught up to 1 metre in the 2 days. 100 anglers in teams of 2 (50 boats) spread over the Fitzroy from Port Alma to the barrage. Lots of small fish from 400mm to 600 mm. Good sign.
Couple of fellow Roper River enthusiasts were leading on first day with 63 fish. I know they got at least 30 on the second day but they were only just in front.
Fella got a 46cm fellowfin bream on a barra lure. That's a big bream!
Daytime temps on the rise. 35 and 36 degrees expected next weekend.
U still on Emu Park road?
Wouldn't mind a fishing session or 2 if u're up to it.

That's fantastic information guys. Every couple of years I go through Rocky for work. Always wondered what the fishing would be like. I might just take a holiday there and check it out.

You serious ronje? I take it they stock the river then. If you can buy a house under 300k i might move there.

There's a bit of stocking goes on from time to time but above the barrage in fresh water (out of reach of pro netters).
Below the barrage there's 75km of salt with a huge mangrove delta at the mouth. Casuarina Is is a mangrove mud island at the mouth of 95km circumferance. There are numerous other mangrove islands and waterways, creeks and drains.
Have a look on google earth. Huge spawning area at mouth with stacks of sheltered area. Regular floods means that plenty of opportunity for fish to move into safe floodplain lagoons until bigger.
The final count for the comp was 1240 barra.
Depends on the quality of housing that u want. Plenty under $300 in town.
