Get the barge navigation marks for the strait off someone. Navigation of the lower strait on anything but a massive high tide is Hazardous. There's massive rockbars that come nearly halfway out into the strait toward the southern end. Then get out there and start looking around. The same theories for catching a fish apply over there as here.
If your in the South:
Fish the creeks around Nguiu for big salmon and barra and the rock bars in Euro Creek are productive on their day.
If your in the North:
Try Miss Bess Creek and the holes around the island off Pirlimgimpi (although I think the holes have been flogged)
There are millions of spots over there so start sniffing around and you'll find fish.

I have some rocks mark on my gps, dont know if you have them on yours? 11.43.21s - 130.36.775e 11,43.380s - 130,35.887e and 11,43.159s - 130,35.878e dont know how far up you are going. The marks are near Tamratoanmu creek.. these marks are on my gold navionics card.
Life is like a box of lures...you never know which one to pick!!!!

Fish tank is on the money turn of the tide almost anywhere there is rock bottom you'll get reefies in the straight just don't hit them. The navionics chart is pretty spot on but for one sand bar 14km north of Nguiu. On that bend stay on the outside
