paint rubbed off?

Post by Hally10 »

looking for a bit of advice and maybe some tips to avoid this in the future.

towed the boat out to coburg recently and although i packed towel under the ratchet and had hull protectors on the straps over the gunwal it seems as though fine dust has crated a sandpaper like effect in a couple of rubbing spots and taken the paint away to bare metal.
A. will this rust (silly question but i dont know, many people have unpainted boats)
B. who can repair it

any helps appreciated cheers

If you really wanted to fix it I think most paint stores will sell marine touch up paint. Maybe even boat dealers but not sure. Wont rust

Towels are porous and would probably trap more dust than no towel.
Tie down straps should be not be over tightened
Unless your boat is steel, it won’t rust. Tinnys are aluminium

I used to use a stubby cooler. Cut it open and slide under

Just use those cheap seat belt shoulder pads from supercrap, velcro on and cheap to replace
