Don't laugh too loud fellas. They work! In fact they work bl..dy well. I remember as a young fella the traditional owners using them on handlines and catching heaps of Barra on them. They would chuck them out, let them flutter, then jerk them in. They are pretty much weedless and they darn well catch Barra.

Yep, I'm with you Door Off. They are not called barra spoons for nothing. Pro's used to use them ages ago when they were catching barra on handlines. In fact, when I was here last about 7-8 years ago I was fishing near Brown's Creek and a kid came down the bank with one. 3rd throw had a fish around 60-70.

Over on Bathurst they use them heaps, and get heaps of mixed fish, barra included. One local, Adam used to tow them up and down the creeks, for good barra Jacks and jew

D.O., Lats, i think seano was having a laugh at the "NEW TECHNOLOGY" portion of the advertisement, not the fact they have been used for barra for years now...........

Maybe the 'new technology'is the colourful paint on the spoons. I caught my 1st barra on the standard chrome one of these trolling along a mangrove bank in Rocky Bay creek near Nhulunbuy in 1976. The spoon was tied to a 50lb handline. They used to be called Huntington Drones from memory. Good thing was they caught just about all pelagics as well. I believe the spoon term originated from actual spoons being converted to troll for mackeral on the east coast many moons ago. Much cheaper to use than commercial lures on toothy critters when there is a hot bite on.
