Yeah mate, not so much the wharf but under the bridges of channel island and elizabeth river, go down for a flick for barra but always take a jig to flick as well, often catch 5+. Always heaps of people down the wharf doing the same thing, theres a greek fella who i see there all the time and recently found out his the old man of a mate of mine, wander past and his bucket is always half full of squid. Alot of patientance involved there for me
Good to hear there is squid to be had in Darwin as i will be moving up there soon. They are dam good baits and even better in the pan or char grilled.
The smaller ones often cook up best as they tend to be more tender. How long does the squid season last there or are they there all year round but only around May are they more prolific?

Seeing Harmsey's big haul of squid and reading that meter_seeker said he knows a person who goes out and catches half a bucket full of squid had me wondering about bag limits.
Why doesnt the NT have a bag limit on squid/Octopus or Cuttlefish?
Here in WA you are only allowed a mixed bag of 15.
I wish our limit was a bit more than 15, but to be able to go out and rape the sytem of as many squid as you like seems a bit farked!
(not saying you rape the system Harmsy, what you have there is a nice haul)

There doesn't seem to be much varience in stocks of squid up here year to year, so i doubt bag limits would really do much - squid aren't targetted THAT much up here anyway.
pretty much stokes hill wharf is the only place that people catch them (and a few at n/cliff jetty, but thats about it) so it might have an immediate effect on stock levels in the short term and only very localised.
