How tough is Casey Stoner?
I've always followed the MotoGP and its predecessors and for years people have been saying that Stoner is a legend etc. When he went to Ducati, I thought he was just a whinger because he couldn’t get the thing connected to deliver the power. Then he won a title on it. Yeah fair enough, fastest bike and all
Then he switched to Honda and won another title. Meanwhile, The Doctor (multi title winner) switched to Ducati but couldn’t get it to work at all. After several years, He has now bailed out back to Yammy.
So Stoner does a big high-side on Saturday qualy and cracks his ankle/ heel, tears a few tendons and general other injuries. No one thought he would make the grid on Sunday but not only did he make the grid, he runs 4th. Finished the race and then walks away on the crutches.
Believe me, you don’t just sit on them, you need to push like buggery on the foot pegs to get them to turn
I busted my rib a couple of weeks ago and I’m still whinging about it.
I don’t think he has a chance of winning the title this year but I’ll be cheering him on at the track in October
I tips me hat to you young fella. Tough little bloke

Yeah also a big fan nomad.
What makes me laugh is Rossi had a crack at Casey when he switched To Ducati, saying he and his crew would have the bike sorted In a matter of weeks, 2 very dry years on he slinks back To Yamaha. Stoner give him a bit of poop last week when the move was announced.
Not sure who I'll be rooting for once he's gone, Lorenzo's a tosser and pedrosa's a f@$ken sook!

I think that anyone who pulls on a helmet and runs the circuits, is very talented. Rossi is incredible but is past it. Pedrosa is a tough little bloke as well Lorenzo will run away with it for a couple of years now. I did laugh when casey told rossi after he ran him down/off

Casey biting the dust Saturday and fronting the line injured on Sunday is the epitome of guts and dedication. Hardcase racer, a credit to his country, and an inspiration to Motorcycle Racers regardless of their chosen field. :applause. As a former racer I salute Casey on his gutsy effort.

I tend not to root for sportsmen, furthermore I think it a little inappropriate to discuss rooting on this forum unless we are discussing carrots or potatoes.
Got to tip my hat to all of the MotoGP crew with a special mention to Stoner.
Bring back the heady days of Rainey, Schwantz and Gardener. Ive got some good footage of Gardener on a honda in the Castrol 6 Hour, now that was a race and he had some serious agates.

Real bikes, minimal electronics. Though they say unlike most of the field, stoner likes to dial back His traction control settings and ride "with his wrist", probably accentuates the intermittent tyre wear issues he has experienced this year.

It's hard to imagine the pain he must have beeen in, Stoner's determination to compete is amazing going out hard before retiring. Its a shame he's retiring and I was bit disappointed initialy but considering the huge risks they all take I started to understand why. Marco Simoncelli and other riders end sure must play on all the riders minds at times. Stoner makes it look easy at times while he is clocking fastest laps respect Casey

There comes a time with all racers, when there's nothing left to prove, and having to get up every day with the niggling pain of old injuries is a constant reminder that the next crash could be your last, when it's time to hang up the leathers. Casey, I feel, has reached that point and has the smarts to know it. He bowed out in typical style, leaving all his fans, and fellow competitors with the knowledge that they have been in the company of a true champion. His ambitions were well and truly matched by his capabilities.
