Jew from rocks

Post by antfish »

Well after a break from fishing through having a ripper of a flu, doing things for others and spending to much time at work, I thought I would actually show you that I do fish and not just cr.p on to Clhoe. I caught this jew on my favorite jew style lure a large grub. There is a fair swell running and it gave me a few worrying moments around the conji. As I was purpose to be in the NT again on the first of may with work and had to pull out due to personal reasons (which was a bit disappointing) maybe I will have more of this to look forward to this winter.

Yep, off the rocks in a heavy swell. There are a few blokes that are just the ducks nut at it around here and I inspire to their ability and I am getting there. One major good point or bad point is when chasing jew of the rock on lure there is very little by-catch may be a big tailor but it is all or nothing.

Great capture! From anywhere let alone land based! Top effort and great result.

Just let me tell you about these guys that I look up to.They are able to judge where a jew may be hiding even if it is only in 5ft of water below a lot of white water. They have the skill not to snag the lure which would prove rather costly and consistently drag fish up to 30kg from these spots. It just shows me their knowledge from growing up here and their understanding of what their dads have shown them. Run a bait from a boat ,you have the upper hand(done that) on the fish but cop waves over you in a rocky hostile environment the fish has the upper hand

Great fish from the rocks, and with swell. Good job.

I have been using Berkley 6 inch grubs and have found pink and white affective, Also the 8 inch straight fluro very good in daylight when the water is dirty and Bozo grubs in fluro or gold have been good( they are 10 times tuffer than the berks but lack the scent). I try to work them as slowly as possible with out snagging which you get a few of and find 7/10 touches are light in-hales with the line having that clicking thing and the other 3/10 is grab and run. This is only my experience at worked off rocks in shallow water with a good cover of white water and it is not in my opinion as successful as the guys who have the shallow running big hard body lure act perfected.
