Good afternoon,

Gunlom will be closed until further notice as a result of heavy rain overnight.

Water is lapping at the footbridge out to the plunge pool and a large volume of water is coming over the falls, presenting a high risk to visitors through debris such as logs coming over the falls and the potential for crocodiles to enter the area. In 2010 within days of the substantial water rises, large crocodiles found their way into Twin Falls and Koolpin — and we’re likely to see similar crocodile activity this wet season.

Access past Flying Fox Creek (towards Koolpin Gorge and Gimbat) is also restricted as the water is too deep to cross. The river has reached just below the level of the one lane bridge over the South Alligator, therefore more rain may force water over the bridge itself.

The reopening of Gunlom depends on future rainfall and successful crocodile surveys prior to anymore large rainfall events.

Please also be advised that the Bowali Visitor Centre will be without power this Sunday from 8am until noon. This will not affect park pass sales or the cafe, however, the interpretation centre and theatre will be without power during this time.

Yeah been watching BOM radar lately and it has been hammering down out that way!!

For all you Natiional Park buffs, I also notied things are closing in Litchfield at the moment. The Reynolds 4WD track closed on the weekend and The Lost City closed a couple of weeks back.

That doesn't supprise me Dingo i was out Batchelor way last night and the ammount of water lying around already was pretty supprising!

Yeh, and the upper Finnis fresh water track closed while we were there. :uhh:
