Had a call from Tom White the person actually responsible. he was very responsive to our plight. he said he will grade it before htis weekend and it gets done every 4-6 weeks. to seal it will cost 3.4 million bucks
the problem is that there are only 13 houses on the road so its not a priority. there are plenty of recreational users on iut but noone complains about it to the right people
The only way it will be sorted is if we keep onto it and complain in writing to the local member. thats how things work
he also said that if we have a comp or other activity on, give him a call a weeks before and he will grade it for us. pretty good result.

Unless we All complain about the road, little will be done. if it is just me that complains officially , they will just treat me as a whinger and still do nothing. the ball is in your collective court

Great work Nomad! And good on Tom for getting back to you with a positive response. I think most of these blokes (contractors) want to do the right thing but it is easy to ignore a problem if nobody is fussed about it. Thanks Nomad

Just wondering how these contractors are paid....per km graded as required by the roads condition? or paid a lump sum and the less it's graded the more they profit?

OK rang Tom White today (direct number 89465111) he says the graders are out there but the rain has stopped them working and they are hoping that they can get back onto it friday if the rain stops.
Long term forcast is not good, not enough money to re-sheet it this year and the contactor advises they are thru to the base with no top left so that means when the wet comes it will be a total bog hole. Hench the big mobs of snot that looks like they re-sheeted it with rubbish fill.
Good thing was he is hoping to get money to re-sheet the first 15k next year.
Tom sounds like a genuine top bloke I know it doesn't help much but the more you keep at them the more chance they will spend money on it.
Cheers grumpy

Good one Grumpy The road is controlled by the dept Const & Infrastructure not just a local council. This is what car regos, income taxes and boat regos !!! (I had to chuck that in) are supposed to go on. The fact that only a small number of people live along it becomes irrelevant if they have stats on just how many people use it. the more we make them aware of the numbers, the better chance they will fix it properly sooner. Tom has kept his word. Can't ask for more than that. i wonder if the Leaders ck has stats on usage Govts love stats Now we need to help him out by making written complaints to their website on the link I posted earlier. It takes about 2 minutes tops.

I wish they would invest in getting Gunn Point prision farm up and running again. That would ensure it is constantly maintained, not to mention the good work the prision farm used to do. Sadly as it is now, it is kind of a road to nowhere and fishermen are the only interest group with stake in it being maintained.

the gov should have stats a few years ago on the big sweeping bend before the iron bridge there was the counter across the road not there now and hasnt been for a while but i would have thought that they would have been doing some kind of survey on the cars traveling out that way??
