Hi Guys,
Went out to GP this morning with the insider info that the road was open. Well it is and it isnt .. Officially the road is still shut from everything I can see. Road closed signs up at the dirt section. The big permanat sign says closed as well.
We pushed on going slow down the road, and came to the road works. They appear to have put in a temporary road pass by in. (rocks in the middle of the road flattened out). The road has 2 big wash outs that will break something over the weekend no doubt.
If driven at a sensible speed the road is drivable however at pace its asking for trouble. I cant see in its current form how they will open it to traffic, however they were not working on it when i drove back out at 9am, so i think they are leaving it and possibly a NTG roads person will go inspect today.
Hopefully this helps some people out for this weekend.

So what part of the road closed signs didn’t you understand. If people keep driving on the roads when they are closed, it just takes longer and more of our money to fix it up. If you got busted by the cops, would you be on here having a whinge or would you just cop the $10 000 fine in your stride? Come on fellas, let the road gangs finish Remember its our taxes that go into fixing the roads. Keep buggering them up and it will cost us more in the long run

yeah righto he was just letting people no what he had seen and the conditions of the road!!!!!!!!!!! if it aint raining now it isnt going to bugger or slow up the repairs on the road!! going to be alot of traffic on the road over the weekend i would suggest they block the road of completly if it is still officialy closed other wise there will be alot of people recieving fines for driveing down there

I think its $13,000 now.. It still wont stop people tho.
Hopefully they open her up today, planning on heading there tomorrow morning if not its a long ride from adelaide river bridge!
Yep, that what the coppers told me $13k but that would be the worst possible scenario, ie bugger it up so no one could use it.
If you drive on a closed road, the workers arent expecting anyone on there and do things that they wouldnt do on an open road, ie working on the road surface on a dumpy level , walk across the road etc etc. A mate of mine was killed when a car (that shouldnt have been there) hit him while he was working on a closed road. he couldnt hear the on comming car due to the noise made by the machinery There are reasons for everything, just that we dont understand most of them and think it will be ok.

Right you blokes here it is
As at 1640 I have been informed by the mob at Leaders that the contractor has just picked up the signs so its open. The internet should ahve been updated by now as well.
I have been out there myself today when I was told by leaders that it was open. They werent working on the road at the time and there are still some areas where caution is required - keep the speed down or you are going to wreck your trailer as there are some big ruts and washouts - they were sign posting the ruts n stuff as I came home. It is very rough in some areas and there are soft spots int he sand so dont get too wound up or you will come to grief.
The bog sections both have by passes on them which are OK - not sure how they will stand up to traffic but we will see.
There was nothing wrong with the road when i went out there monday either - and before you start cracking up at me the signs were gone when i went out on monday - they were back up when i came home but definetely werent there when i went out. Not sure how you would bugger that road up now as it is pretty much dry all the way - yes if it was wet then it should be closed but its dry now and definetaly passable. TThe major damage was done when peopel drove on it while it was wet. It is going to need some major work as it has broken through the base in some sections but the rest of the road is passable.
Hope everyone has a great Easter.
Cheers
Shane
