hi guys it's been a long time since i last posted on the sight. Fourstroke, Damo and myself have been a month long fishing holiday, we headed up to the south for a week where we had found the fishing quite hard at first working out where the fish were as you probably all know there were sh*t loads of water up the top and obviously majority of the fish were up on the plains still feeding which meant we had long runs down towards the mouth to fish the run offs even though we found lots of great looking run offs but very few fish in em. We found quite a few where fish were boofing all around us but wouldn't take a lure hard bodies, soft plastics, poppers we tried them all, getting the occasional fish but not dynamite run off fishing that we experienced in years before.
After a couple of days of trial and error we started to find the fish weren't in the clear water but were in the dirty and by fishing the etties up from the run offs not below where you would normally think that they are, produce some good fishing. But the best fishing we encountered on the south was actually fishing etties on the outside of every major bend on the fall of the tide. These spots would fire for an hour or so and then shut down so we would just move onto the next major bend. By using this method picking up double figures of nice salt water fish between fifty and eighty but it was hard work so we decided to pull the pin and head down to the roper river.
The roper was really firing with at least twenty five fish being boated and released a day on nice salt water fish that really made our trip. The fish was so fired up by getting huge air and hitting like steam trains. The fish weren't large sixty on average to our best which was eighty five cm's but were all brawlers. Sorry about the novel just excited still. Planning next year already. Was going to talk about reef fishing in 1770 but have run out of time. Maybe tomorrow.
