spending a week a noosa, went into the local tackle shop on arrival to buy some lures and get some info, was shown a recent pic of a silver metre plus barra caught in the noosa river, apparently very unusual, they do get the odd barra further upstream in the fresh, barra farm escapees. Their thoughts that the silver metre fish had come from ocean from further north, rather than an escapee moving down from the fresh to the salt water sections of the river. all quite interesting.
Have tried to lure up some jacks and bream but so far no good, watched the bream smashing jelly prawns in the shallows on a falling tide. Same problems i spose when the northern barra have an ample supply of jelly prawns, makes luring them even more of a challenge.

there is also a few being caught in the logan river (between Bris and Gold Coast) each year. There is also some great threadfin fishing in the Brissy River with fish up to 23kg being caught, mostly on baits but a few also falling to soft plastics, the average size seams to be around the 8-10kg mark.
Cheers Ian
