On a recent trip to Channel Point I discovered something. A POWERTAIL MECCA, while fishing throughout the trip after a day pulling up countless reef fish (Blubone, snapper, cod, ect) And 3 1.3m+ Macks. We dicided to go to the jewy ledge for a chance at some quility jewfish. We looked at the sounder and the fish were going off in about 40m of water. we stopped for a fish within about 5mins of dropping a line i was on. after a good 10 min (on a heavy handline mind you) fight i pulled upp this massive powertail it measured 1.2m should have got a photo. After putting my line back down (with the same bit of bait) My brother & dad were both struggling with there powertails at this point. Got another one on Another 1m+. We spent about 1.5 hours here waiting for the tide to come in, pulling up for 10 powertail each with even a few pesky jewfish showing up. Then Went and checked the crab pots, only got 29 crabs, 7 legels in one pot. Would highly recomend this trip. A word of advice if looking for macks and reef fish look behind south & north peron island in protected rejoin i found a live reef there in about 5m of water the water there is amazingly clear. For Macks Just burly up and float a ganged hooked slimy mack or sandmar, even caught one on a shark fillet!

Awesome,
that is some quality powertail, the king of our ocean. Would love to see some photos of Trophy Powertail like that. At length their grunting would almost deafen you. I love Powertail.
